THAT'S ICONIC!

Here are some of what I would say are the most iconic horror/thriller moments (Warning! There are some serious spoilers ahead!!!)
The first one, I've already talked about on another post and that's the music from Jaws. The music keeps the audience on edge and tells us when the shark is around. The way it builds as the shark gets closer makes it so iconic and memorable.

(Jaws, 1975)
"Here's Johnny" from The Shining.
This quote was not only iconic in terms of horror, but in terms of film as a whole. This moment in horror is known by people who haven't even seen the film.

(The Shining, 1980)
The shower scene from Psycho. Everything about this scene adds up to make a very iconic moment. The music was brilliant, and the fact that we barely see the killer adds so much mystery around the story. Not only that, but the main character was killed off after we followed her through the film up to that point, which was shocking. At the time when the film was made, it was shocking at how explicit the scene was. Its believed that if the film had been shot in colour rather than black and white, the scene would have not have been showable! The film did however encourage violence in horror, and therefore has to be one of the most iconic moments in horror!

(Psycho, 1960)
"I see dead people" from The Sixth Sense
This moment from the paranormal thriller is one of the most memorable lines in film. Once again, this moment is probably known by people who have never seen the film, because it's so iconic. It's a great film with a great plot twist. So if you've not seen it, I definitely recommend it!

(The Sixth Sense, 1999)
"They're here" from Poltergeist
This line said by little Carol Anne in the Poltergeist film was guaranteed to get the audience on the edge of their seats! Once again, whether you've seen the film or not, you've probably heard about this famous line. Sadly the actress, Heather O’Rourke, passed away just aged 12 before the third film was released, along with other members of the cast, leading to rumours of the film and its sequels being cursed.

(Poltergeist, 1982)
Now away from the iconic quotes, one very iconic moment was Scream. When a very famous actress, and probably one of the most popular people in Hollywood at the time was killed off. Drew Barrymore, known for playing Gertie (Elliott's little sister) in E.T, was killed off from the film within the first scene. When audience's found out she was starring in the film, it was probably expected she would be playing the main character. Sadly her character didn't last long in the film, but it did create a very iconic moment! Scream 2 starred Sarah Michelle Geller, who was very popular at the time, starring as Buffy in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. But once again, Scream killed her character off within the opening scene!

(Scream, 1996 & Scream 2, 1997)
Another moment which shocked fans was Se7en. There was a lot of change with the ending of this film. And if you've not seen it, I would stop reading now and go watch the film, there are serious spoilers coming up!
Anyway, for those of you who are still reading, the film Se7en had a lot of change with the ending of the film. While many films, including those in the horror genre, end with a somewhat happy ending. Se7en did the opposite by killing the main character's wife. The famous quote "What's In The Box?!" said by Mills was actually his dead wife's head. This shocked the audience. No one would have seen such a dark ending coming! But it was truly iconic!

(Se7en, 1995)
